Buying glasses in traditional retailers is awful. Ben & Frank is born out of the necessity to build an incredible experience for all those “Four-eyes” who wish to look amazing without the hefty price tags of fashion brands. By eliminating intermediaries and crafting our own designs we can offer incredible fashion, with top quality, at less than half the price than traditional competitors. We started digitally with our website and now directly operate 12 stores in 4 cities and opening more at an amazing pace.

Overview of Business Development @ Ben & Frank

As Ben & Frank look to expand their operations, they’re after a Business Development professional to join their team in Mexico City. You’ll be tasked with identifying new sales leads, acquiring new customers and diversifying the business to ensure its long-term growth and sustainability, as well as regularly negotiating with stakeholders.

They’re after someone with proven experience in a similar role and qualifications in Business Development, Marketing, Economics and/or Finance. You’ll have an in-depth knowledge of business products and value proposition, as well as high-level communication and negotiating skills. Experience with the design and implementation of a business development strategy is essential, as is the ability to motivate yourself and those around you.

Ideally, you’ll be a Spanish speaker (or open to learning) so you can communicate with staff across all levels of the company and have an approachable and personable nature. You’ll be driven to succeed and meet (or exceed) targets while being passionate about joining a company that’s making eyewear more affordable for the masses.

Business Development

Ben & Frank is a vibrant team on a -vision- to create meaningful, fun, affordable products for consumers. The company was founded in 2015 by three passionate Mexicans: Majo, Mariana, and Eduardo, who with a complementary skillset wanted to innovate and provide affordable and high-quality glasses.

Mariana and Eduardo have successfully co-led the company since founding and are looking to add amazing talent to lead the next stage of the company.

Mariana has a broad experience in finance, after working for Mexico's Central bank, where she was in charge of managing the Fixed Income assets, she worked in Venture Capital where she was first introduced to Mexico's Startup ecosystem. Mariana is constantly challenging herself and others, making her not only a great person to learn from but also very open to criticism and others opinions. She always puts doing the right thing first and considers not only the company success but also the success of its members.

Mariana is recognized as a go-to-person in Mexico for entrepreneurship and digital strategy, she is an advisor for Grupo Axo's digital strategy (Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, Abercrombie and Fitch and others), as well as a member of the Board for Universidad Iberoamericana’s Business School. She has also been a speaker at events like Banamex Annual Shareholders meeting and the University of Chicago New Venture Challenge celebration dinner.

Mariana holds an Economics degree from Universidad Iberoamericana and an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Eduardo’s background in mathematics, coupled with management consulting experience and an MBA from the University of Chicago where he specialized in analytical marketing make him one of the most detail oriented entrepreneurs in Mexico. Always obsessed about making the customer experience better, he enables his teams’ performance through data analysis and visibility of relevant KPIs. Eduardo’s focus, dependability, and intellectual curiosity make him one of the most interesting people to work for and learn from; his flawless and dark sense of humor make it super enjoyable to share an office with him.

Ben & Frank’s rocketship growth can be largely attributed to Maria José’s creative leadership with some crazy out-of-the-box thinking; positioning Ben & Frank as a funny and approachable brand. B&F has been recognized for launching some of the best campaigns this year and is always looking to add more minds to the creative process.
